Basic recommendations for new university students

by benny on December 3, 2009

Graduation means new adventures, new roads, and many new choices. If you go to college or the workforce, there are many things that people say, in an attempt to give “advice” as the head of this new phase of his life. No matter what age you are and when you are away from responsibility. Everyone will tell you what to do (or not) because I love you and want to see them succeed, or even help them live through you. My feeling is that all the things “that comes from a place of good intentions. (Or that pays for tuition only wants your money!) Anyway, here are some things you probably do not feel all adults, which means you too.

1. It will be just as difficult as you think. It is up to you to find what he does, not what someone has done. Choose your path through your heart.

2. If you drink, do not drive. If you drive, do not drink. Common sense is not so common as you might think.

3. Keep snacks. You never know when you may need food to overcome the next few hours. The food is more important than alcohol (which is true) but do not underestimate the medicinal properties of a glass of wine. E ‘part of their fruits and vegetables. Also, do not drink too much, because it causes severe memory loss (which can mean the difference between passing and not test!)

4. The dream must not be underestimated. Lack of sleep has been shown to reduce the ability of the brain in large quantities, making even the most brilliant student in a fool. Done! (the slogan “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” is not to be taken seriously!)

5. Personal hygiene is of paramount importance. You can use the same pair of jeans for days if you also use clean linen. If you do not believe me, try to live with someone who does not wet. This will cause various diseases, including but not limited to sleep deprivation, nausea, chronic problems of odor and weight loss (it’s hard to eat when someone is in bad odor in the room!)

6. Avoid showers green. If you do not see a rug in the bathroom (and you know it’s tile) not to walk barefoot on this floor. The mushrooms are nasty little organisms that are difficult to eradicate and very unpleasant sensory experience. If all else fails, wear sandals!

7. The gym membership is not necessary to stay in shape. The weight of your body will do. The Undertaker good old push-ups and a short walk form even an hour a day in the gym. Additional benefits of keeping fit? You do not need much sleep! (Please refer to # 4)

8. An e-mail is not the same as a paper copy. In other words, make your mother a card from time to time. You’ll appreciate the time to write (in his own handwriting please!) And put it in a mailbox. This will mean more “is” for you! The next time you do 3 months worth of laundry home, does so with a smile. Believe me, this wonderful work!

9. Always respond quickly if the assistance packages to arrive. More thank you notes, as a result more than welcome. In summary, generates gratitude. Be grateful for every little thing. (side effect: it feels too good!)

10. The hats are terrible for all types of disasters. Bad hair day dirty hair, the rain, the visible roots (a lot of color?), Etc., are also very useful for saving small problems still far away from you (remember to check … Brrr!)

11. Cotton, cotton, cotton! Avoid synthetic clothing. Cotton is more comfortable, easier to clean (even the room, sink), dries quickly and cures. The nearest store sells discount T-shirts of cotton in 6 packs. Buy 2. This will give you enough time to find someone to do the laundry before they are exhausted. (even with socks!)

12. Say hello to ‘block’. Just because someone on hold, as a geek does not mean that they have a soul. Be nice. You never know who becomes geek (including Bill Gates!). Also, as you build gratitude nice. Ignore the donkeys are better than you think. As my father said, “Even the pope has to clean his ass.” (not a pretty picture, but you get the idea) We are all…. people and no better than anyone else. (Some people think differently … let your illusions and go with it)

13. It only takes 21 days to form a habit. Choose which serve the maximum benefit, and stick to it. Not long before they are to excel in exams and still have time to have fun! You can do both. It ‘all about balance.

14. Home phone. Once a week, call your parents. Just tell them you love them. If you’ve never done it before, expect mixed reactions. Do not dismay. This too shall pass. One day, after we are all “adults” do not regret it. Once again, you have to trust me here. Because they (their parents) will not be forever … Now is as good as any time you care.

15. When cash flow is not flowing ~ be creative. You will be amazed the things you can do to make money. Example: Go to www.craigslist.org. Search “free.” Get free stuff … and sell it. Garbage is another man’s treasure.

16. Volunteers: You will be surprised to see how this will change your life. Find something that inspires you (animal shelters, nursing homes, food banks, shelters for battered women, etc.) and to donate part of his time. It feels good, and the performances are a hundred times. Remember, what goes around Comes Around.

17. Listen to your instincts. Intuition is a gift of all was granted. Use it. Often. Always makes you better. It is also useful to recognize the hitch behind this pretty face. Trust your instincts more than your eyes. Seeing is believing necessarily.

18. There is no such thing as a stupid question. If you’re unsure, ask. The only stupid question is one that remains unanswered. Also, how do you think the greatest minds of our time is their response? Think of the Nobel Peace Prize.

19. Education is more than what they learn in class. It is also mental, moral and aesthetic. The Knowledge Media (books / teachers / laboratory), experience (parties, trips, etc.), and exploration. Do not be afraid to try new things. You might be surprised what you learn about yourself!

20. S-T-R-S-T-C-H! Both physical and otherwise … Stretch. Going beyond the norm and not wander. Awaken the body during the day (good for a lot of things!). Open your mind to consider new possibilities. Extend your consciousness to hear all this wonderful world. There is much to learn. Much of this experience. A large part of life. GO FOR IT!
