College tuition can be in place, but a growing number of universities, including Clemson, are giving students a break on their textbooks.

Beginning this fall, students from Clemson can rent textbooks at a 50 percent savings.

“The price of textbooks has been rising in recent years. It was a great concern among the students and parents. And this is one way to really help bring that cost down,” said Kevin Harrington, manager of the Clemson University Bookstore.

Harrington said the average cost of textbooks for new students is between $ 600 and $ 700. He said if that student rent textbooks they may pay $ 350 for the same books.

“You get it for the entire semester. You have about 10 days after the last day of school to return to us. If you bring it back to us in the normal wear and tear condition, then there is no additional charge,” he said.

The students who are interested in renting textbooks can visit the Clemson University Bookstore, or shop online at the website of the library.
