The application deadline for college scholarships offered by the Skiff Medical Center Auxiliary is April 1. Applications are obtainable at the hospital administration office, the DMACC Newton Campus and at higher school counselor’s offices throughout Jasper County.
The auxiliary will award medical scholarships to students inside Jasper County who are interested in pursuing an education in a health-related field. The following scholarships is going to be awarded: one $1,000 Lydia E Swihart Nursing Scholarship for students pursuing a two- to four-year associate nursing degree or perhaps a four-year degree nursing program, one $1,000 Sterling And Maxine Swanger Nursing Scholarship for students pursing a degree in nursing, one $500 Janet & Joyce Slycord Nursing Scholarship, one $500 Nursing Scholarship in honor of Lois Vogel, one $500 health-related scholarship given in memory of Ronald R Ross, one $500 Geneva Trost Field of Medicine Scholarship and additional $500 and $1,000 scholarships for students interceded in pursuing an education in nursing and other health-related careers.
Completed applications and references must be received by Skiff Medical Center by 4 p.m. Thursday, April 1. Personal interviews will not be required. Scholarship selection is going to be based on financial need, scholastic performances, past accomplishments, activities, leadership, personal references and goal statements.
