Are you a young talented comic artist, but can not afford art school. In the upper part, the costs of tuition in schools as the Rhode Island School of Design over $ 30,000 a year. At the lower end of the New York School of Visual Arts in enrollment is more than $ 11,000, but living in the Big Apple can be expensive.

Fortunately, if you have the talent and need, are not well endowed scholarships available specifically for cartoonists. How to get a scholarship cartoonist:

First
What type of entertainer are you? Are you an editorial cartoonist, a graphic novelist, or a Marvel / DC style comic book artist? This will determine the type of school and / or grant to aim.

Second
Go to the National Association of the website Comic Arts Educators (see Resources below) to see the list of colleges and schools with an arts comedy program. Visit the website of each college and school. Almost all of them offer scholarships.

Third
There are other comic book artist fellowships, sponsored by nonprofit organizations independent of the sponsoring colleges and schools. For example, Diamond, the largest distributor of comics, offers its rough diamonds from the grant for the Center for Cartoon Studies. If you’re an editorial cartoonist, the American Association of Editorial Cartoonists offers the John Locher Memorial Award for student cartoonists.

Also note that some scholarships are awarded to incoming students, while others are for students already enrolled. The Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by the National Cartoonists Society Foundation (NCS is also the organization awarding the prestigious Reuben Award each year, the equivalent of the Oscar for professional cartoonists.
