Postdoctoral Fellowship, Department of Botany, Sweden

scholarship books 300x232 Postdoctoral Fellowship, Department of Botany, Sweden

Botany Department conducts a broad education and botanical research; the latter divided into three research areas: plant ecology, plant physiology and plant systematic. Each area of research is led by a teacher in charge and covers a large number of research subjects, which extends from the analysis of genes and molecules to ecological systems, and has a rich arsenal of modern molecular biology, including large greenhouses and climate chambers.

Tasks

The projects concern post-doctoral molecular studies of defense mechanisms in higher plants. The projects are part of the research program PlantComMistra, which focuses on the interactions of barley plants with other plants and the aphids and their natural enemies. Duties include supervision of project students and visiting researchers and outreach to society, especially the farming industry and the agricultural sector.

Requested qualifications

A doctor later is mainly used to carry out research. You must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. The doctoral degree should have been awarded no longer than three years at the time of application. If there are specific reasons, a PhD over three years is accepted. These reasons include sick time, parental leave, etc.

Criteria for appointment

The most important criteria for appointment are the scientific ability. The title of doctor need not be specifically in plant biology, but this is a merit. When judging scientific expertise, the experience of molecular biology and bioinformatics makes specific qualification. The experience of higher plants and the interaction between different organisms is a merit. The activities of the ability to collaborate and communicate science in English and Swedish are taken into account, and outreach experience.
