Brandon Cudequist, of Montvale and Courtney Kulchin of Woodcliff Lake, have been named Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars. Both are seniors on the Saddle River Day School, Upper Saddle River.
The Greater Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA), an independent agency from the State of New Jersey, administers the Garden State Scholarship Program, which includes the Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholar award.
Distinguished Scholars are offered an annual award of up to $1,000 without regard to financial need. The scholarship could be obtainable for as much as four years of undergraduate study at a New Jersey college or university.
Much more than 5,000 secondary school students received Distinguished Scholar awards based on the following criteria:
* Class rank of one, two, or three within the graduating course and rank within the best 10 percent of the graduating course on the conclusion of the junior year; or
* Class rank within the top 10 percent of the graduating class on the conclusion of the junior yr with combined critical reading and math SAT scores of 1260 or higher at the conclusion of the junior year.
