Why schools teach the theory of evolution

by benny on January 5, 2010

Evolution is a theory of rules taught in many schools is not without controversy. Because evolution is still a theory, nor, indeed, that critics have concerns about the concepts taught. Creationism and intelligent design debates by adding different perspectives on the origin of the universe. However, there are reasons that many schools have chosen to teach evolution. Here are some thoughts on why this is the case.
Tradition
Perhaps evolution is taught because it was taught in previous generations. There are many pedagogical concepts that are taught, because teachers to develop their programs on the basis of what is taught in school. Because teachers assume their teachers knew what they were talking about, to use and teach the same skills. In addition, tools such as textbooks are written by experts assumed that appear generally reliable or “tested” the material. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with passing on knowledge, but eventually some concepts can be slightly modified. For example, evolution is a theory, but many people try to label as “fact.” This is clearly inappropriate because even scientists generally use the term “fact” and “test”.
Faith and comfort
because evolution is taught humanity often feels compelled to put their faith in something. It gives people a sense of comfort, as their knowledge base is a guarantee and support. Ironically, proponents of changing people complain of “faith” that promote creationism as a point of view. The reality of scientific discovery is that evolution is followed with the same kind of faith in many ways. In other words, we assume that evolution is true, despite significant differences in data and information. Critics of creationism point for statistical improbability of creationism, but mathematicians will do the same opinion about evolution.
Confidence in humanity
finally, evolution is taught, because humanity has a high degree of faith in his own intellectualism. In other words, humanity has “met” a lot and made great discoveries and advances. This has led many people, especially in the academic community, assuming that humanity can not imagine anything. Again, despite significant differences in the theory of evolution, people are still defending their points of view, because to admit that I could be wrong, it would be too painful.
Darwinian Thought
Darwin himself confessed to tremble when I thought that in some parts of human resources, in particular the human eye. Despite the fact that supporters dismiss these claims, there is another point of view that Darwin himself was not totally comfortable with his theory. Furthermore, Darwin’s understanding of some scientific concepts as the structure of the cells are much more rudimentary compared to what is known today. But people are stubborn and sometimes, the pride that prevents you from admitting that his system of thought has holes.
In general, the trend is unlikely to be resolved soon. Despite the continuing discoveries in the fossil record, again suggesting that the critical missing link “is approximately 50,000 more missing links. Also, evolution is often obscured by the fact that people use a long-term evolution. The reality is that the construction of micro-evolution and macro-evolution are very different and bring with them various issues. Given the fact that Darwinism has emerged only in the 19th century, the possibility exists that the entire academic community could in the future, change their general philosophy in a relatively short period of time.
